Exciting news! We are proud to announce the launch of the new ALAS BOOKS Young Writers Series!

 MAES agrees that age is really just a number and that it doesn't limit literary skills, talent, or capability. We also recognize that many of the world's most appreciated wordsmiths penned masterpieces in their formative years. To advocate both childhood literacy and Global Citizenship Education, MAES is now publishing international student literary works in all genres of fiction and nonfiction. It is our goal to embrace and encourage young people who wish to express their own voices and visions regardless of their origins.

Our first publication in the series comes from the talented young Peruvian writer, Arianna Yantas. Ariana celebrated her 11th birthday while authoring Convex. The story is a fascinating and clever tale about a town of geometrically-shaped people of all types and sizes. However, the citizens of "Shapeville" are astonished by the sudden arrival of the Convex Family who look almost like everyone else, but whose shapes are not quite what everyone is used to.

We invite all of you to share in this creative and unique reading experience that explores prejudice, self-awareness, and community acceptance.
